Possible Winter Weather?

After reading our blog posts from the weekend, I realize we have a lot of winter weather fans across our area. As I looked over our long range GFS model, more winter weather potential exists for the middle of next week. Let me say that this is still a very long way off, and it will be fun to see how the models handle this system; however, I have seen some consistency from the last 3 model runs, and that could mean the possibility for winter weather by next Wednesday.
A trough is forecast to swing across the Central United States by early next week, allowing cold air to dive across the plains. Low level moisture is also forecast to increase as the cold air moves south. We'll be keeping our eyes on this system over the next couple of days. Let it snow!

Here's a little update on this post...the GFS is still holding true with this winter system, however, it seems to be delaying it for late Wedneday into Thursday. It's always fun to watch and see how the models handle everything.....
For those of you that live on area lakes...this article is about lake effect snow in Arkansas. I want to thank one of our viewers who sent us this link...enjoy!

Last year,or was the it the year before.. there was some lake effect snow around my area coming from lake Tenkiller. Other eastern Oklahoma lakes also had that going on also. I still have some hope that winter around here isnt over yet we all get some snow.
Goodmorning,How about an update.Do we still have a good shot at some snow next week??
Well, the possibility for snow still exists next Thursday. The GFS is pretty robust with the cold air, even in the River Valley. I'll post more tonight, but the run to run consistency is looking pretty good.
I predict significant winter precip the 2nd or 3rd of Feb.
