CHECK OUT THESE PICTURES!

We received these pictures of yesterday’s spectacular cloud formations that formed late in the day as a series of thunderstorms pushed through the area. After doing some research, it appears as if most of the lobe-like formations were a form of mammatus clouds, which form as rain cooled air sinks and encounters rising moist and much warmer air. The turbulent conditions within which they form are typically a product of thunderstorms. The funnel-like shapes can resemble tornadic phenomena, though yesterday’s storms were neither severe nor conducive to tornadic production.

A BIG THANKS goes out to everyone who sent in the photos!
