The first named storm of the tropical season goes to a storm that formed in the sub-tropics, off the Carolina coast. The above picture shows the present position of this somewhat anomalous extra tropical storm “Andrea”.
As of 5PM EDT the storm was drifting toward the south at near 3 MPH. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 MPH. Gradual weakening is expected and the storm could transition into a remnant low by tonight or tomorrow.
