Evening Weather Update

Showers and storms have mainly developed across western and central Arkansas this afternoon, along with a few spots across eastern Oklahoma. Take a look at the graphic I have included above. Note the -12 degree C temperatures aloft. This area has seen the greatest coverage in storms this afternoon due to the instability.
The sunshine and moisture have combined to form thunderstorms this afternoon; however, as the sun goes down, and we lose surface heating, these storms will fall apart quickly.

The upper level winds are very light today, especially around 700 mb (10,000 ft). The storms that persist throughout the evening will not move quickly, so be watchful for heavy flooding downpours.
