4:30 P.M. Update

Scattered showers and storms continue to move across western portions of Arkansas this afternoon. Look for these storms to diminish in coverage and intensity toward the evening. Most of the storms are contained throughout western Arkansas; however, an outflow boundary is now moving through LeFlore county, and that has the potential to focus more afternoon severe storms.
A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 9:00 p.m. Hail to the size of quarters and winds gusts from 50 to 60 mph are possible. Isolated large hail to golf balls will still be possible through the late afternoon hours. Isolated flash flooding is also an issue if storms continue to train over the same area. Never cross a roadway that's covered with water!
Take a look at these pictures from 40/29 Storm Chaster Brian Emfinger. The first picture was a shelf cloud near Lavaca, and the other two were taken near Charleston. Brian reported 45 mph winds with these storms.
