Rainy Start to July

Is this summer or what? My goodness, it's the 1st of July, and temperatures have been held to the upper 70s and low to mid 80s with clouds and rain. This pesky cut-off feature has provided a very wet start to July, and it looks to take some more time to leave our area.

On average, we should see between 3 to 4 inches of rainfall for the entire month of July, and many spots have already picked up a quarter of that monthly total in the last 24 hours. Localized flooding was reported, in fact, on the south side of Fort Smith I picked up over 2.50" of rain at my house! Here are some other impressive rainfall totals for July 1.

Fort Smith, 1.90"

Van Buren, 1.54"

Fayetteville, 0.58"

Poteau, 1.06"

Sallisaw, 0.93"

XNA Airport, 1.33"

Eureka Springs, 2.12"
