TRANSITIONING STAGE... MARCH STORM '08

As promised, here is an updated snowfall map. The upper level low that will bring us the snow is now over Arizona and New Mexico. A wide swath of heavy snow is developing over the panhandle regions of Texas and Oklahoma in response to this feature. Expect this snow to swing through our area over the course of Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. The Low is somewhat detached from the Jetstream, making for a slow pass and helping yield the impressive snow totals.

Brian Emfinger, exclusive 4029 storm chaser, snapped this most incredible shot of lightning around the Hacket area of OK earlier in the evening as some isolated cells prompted severe thunderstorm warnings through our area. Most of the thunderstorm activity put out a lot of cloud to ground lighting and brief gusty winds. Some small hail has been present too in the leading edge of both single cells and a sharp line of activity along the cold front. With falling temperatures, we'll soon be monitoring the Winter side of this most impressive storm.
