A PATH OF WINTER
After we were dealt our snowfall with the storm of March 6th and 7th, many parts of the Ohio Valley saw record snowfall. In fact, Columbus, OH, picked up some 20" of snow breaking an old record set back in Feb. of 1910. The storm then "marched" into New England where many areas all the way up to the Canadian border saw a wintry mix and then as much as three quarters of an inch of ice, followed by snow. Mt. Washington, NH recorded a 114 mph gust with a prolonged period of sustained winds greater than 90 mph! FYI, 114 mph is just about at half of top recorded wind speeds on top of "the rock pile". Back in 1934, on April 12th, Mt.Washington recorded a 231 mph gust, which is a world record. To read an account of the historic recording click on the link.
