Venus and Jupiter
For the next few mornings if your up around dawn look to the southeast horizon and you can see an interesting sight. Venus and Jupiter, the two brightest planets in the sky are having a close encounter. In the picture above you can see Venus and Jupiter as the two bright "stars" in the middle left of the image. The brighter and larger object is Venus while the smaller and dimmer object is Jupiter. If you have binoculars you can focus on Jupiter and you should be able to see Jupiter's four large moons. On the morning of the 3rd and 4th the moon will also close in to form a compact triangle bringing together in a very small area of sky the three brightest night sky objects. And while the objects appear close in our sky, keep in mind that in reality they are still hundreds of millions of miles away from each other.
