POSSIBLE STRONG T-STORMS

The chart in blue highlights upper level jetstream winds. In this case, a sharp trough is dissecting the middle part of the country. The chart with the yellows and reds highlights the same trough, showing mid-level winds along with something called vorticity, which is just a measurement of spin in a fluid. In this case that fluid is air and there is a large "piece" of vorticity just to our west. The time-frame of the charts is next Tuesday morning. Such a set-up is conducive to thunderstorms.

Consistency with this model scenario has been good. It's likely at this point that there will be some sort of an organized line of showers and storms in association with a cold front, as this all moves across the central plains. Depending on the exact timing and how unstable the atmosphere is when it passes through here, some strong storms with gusty winds and possibly some hail could develop. We'll be monitoring the progression of this closely.
