2007 RAINFALL TOTALS

March and November of 2007 were very dry across the board. Over the Month of November Fayetteville's Drake Field only picked up 0.35" of rain. Those Months are the main reason for the deficit in that particular location. Interestingly, other areas not too far away such as Winslow, AR, picked up some 55" of rain for the year, as reported by Darrell. Winslow is just a stones throw away from lake Fort Smith, which filled up long before it was expected to! John from Paris, meanwhile picked up around 44", which is very close to the Fort Smith Total. Elsewhere, banner monthly rainfall totals were commonplace, especially in parts of Oklahoma, where a series of stagnant boundaries draped across the area, allowed a training effect of showers and storms to persist for days on end. If there was just some economically feasible way to distribute surpluses and deficits around the country we would be set. Let's hope for some drought relief for our neighbors in the Southeast this year.
