EXTREME RIDGING

This is the 00Z initialization for winds at 300mb (about 32,000' or so). Note the sharp ridge off the west coast, although just a hare detached from the zonal flow (west to east) over the the Pacific; it stretches all the way to the pole! This looks to drift over Canada over the next few days as a ridge builds in over the central states. We'll warm substantially by Tuesday with highs running at least 10 degrees above seasonal averages!
