A DRY PERIOD AHEAD?
Take particular note of the top map (click on it to enlarge). Although we're not in a drought, the past ten days have brought little rain to our area. This week, with a few northern passing systems, rain will be held to a few showers at best on Monday with the passing of a cold front. There afterwards a cut-off area of low pressure off the the California coast with a ridge of high pressure built in to the north looks to keep us in a block storm-wise for much of the week. The Pacific is showing some buckles in the flow, though it will take a significant trough to break the block. Long-range models are suggesting something in over a weeks time; next Tue. / Wed. to be specific, but this in quasi-fantasy land! For the time being we'll be monitoring consistency in the data and focusing on an impending wide-spread freeze for northern areas by mid-week.
