Tornado Watch Until 3 A.M.
The National Weather Service has portions of eastern Oklahoma under a tornado watch until 3 a.m. Showers and storms have developed rapidly over the last couple of hours as the low level jet continues to strengthen out of the south. The WRF is forecasting this current of air around 5,000 ft to increase to 40 to 45 knts across central and eastern Oklahoma.
The low level jet will likely fuel elevated storms across eastern Oklahoma throughout the overnight period. I think the tornadic activity will stay to our west; however, elevated storms will likely contain small hail and gusty winds. We'll continue to watch for isolated strong to severe storms throughout the course of the night.
